creating a creature

In this context a creature may be an animal, a character with animalistic qualities or something hybrid or other worldly. You may be exploring a character for TV,  Film, Performance Capture , Theatre or just simply wish to play and explore, so as to be ready for your next big creature inspired project.

How do you approach a creature role?  What physical choices do you research and consider when building such a character? Do you want to discover creature like qualities for a human role, or do you want to work towards finding more human like qualities for your creature role? We shall explore and discuss it all.

Movement Director & Movement Coach Sarah Perry will lead the workshop focusing primarily on the body and movement as a tool for performance and creature embodiment.

Explore

Please bring along a character or creature that you'd like to explore in more depth. Or if you'd rather start from scratch, you can simply see where your body and imagination take you on the day. However, having some sort of foundation of a character to work with, will really allow you to get the most out of the workshop.

Through this workshop, you will gain a richer understanding of how your body, physicality and imagination can be used to its full potential, adding to your strengths as an actor and creature performer.

This workshop is aimed at actors, physical performers and would also be be useful for animators wanting to work with creature performance and creature performers too.

Please wear comfortable clothes to move in, ideally not too baggy or loose, so as we can see the articulations of the body and the physical & characterful performance choices you are making.

Who is this for?

Actors & Physical Performers

Dancers & Specialist Movers

Animators & other creatives interested in Creature Performance

hope to see you soon
